Kiirstin Marilyn is a vegan human rights activist, actor, and alt-pop singer-songwriter based in New York City. Her entire life has been defined by music and live performance. Along with a passion for art, Kiirstin has dedicated her voice to end oppression for all animals, human and non. She became involved in animal rights activism about 10 years ago with the organization NYCLASS and began working to bring an end to the cruel carriage horse industry in New York City. But it wasn't until she fully embraced veganism in 2016 that she kicked her anti-oppression activism into high gear and resolved to use her music to relay this message.

Kiirstin is the host of the web series V for Veganism, has curated several charity events benefitting various farm sanctuaries, and is a founding organizer for the NYC March of Silence chapter. She can be seen in minor roles on Mr. Robot (USA) and Hightown (Starz). A complete list of Marilyn’s accolades can be found on her IMDB profile.

On October 23, 2020 Kiirstin released her debut album “There Are No Cats In America” produced by Adam Tilzer. With the release of Legacy, the first single on her new album, Marilyn created a buzz with her melodies and message and was met with immediate interest by listeners around the globe- quickly gathering over 25,000 streams- and still growing.

One of those listeners was Maxfield Gast. Inspired by her story and selfless passion for all animal rights, Gast decided to put his own spin on Marilyn’s debut single Legacy. With the approach of simplicity he allowed the song’s message to be amplified by the lyrics themselves. With minimal drums in the opening verses, Gast completely eliminates rhythm in the chorus- creating a powerful and haunting foundation built with lower brass and woodwinds. Though minimal in it’s opening, Legacy Remix is met with a 12-piece percussion section creating a tribal breakdown that catapults the song into it’s climax. The perfect balance of organics and electronics, this remix is an electrifying homage to Marilyn’s hit single. Legacy Remix features Elliot Garland on electric bass, Nick Lombardelli on tuba and trombone, Kiirstin Marilyn’s top line, and Maxfield on guitars, keyboards, percussion, saxophones, additional vocals and drum sequencing. Additional production personnel include mixing by Adam Tilzer and Maxfield Gast, mastering by Matt Kilmer and cover artwork and design by Jane Eger. Legacy Remix was produced and exectutive produced by Maxfield Gast on the Militia Hill label. Official release date February 12, 2021.

Legacy (Maxfield Gast Remix) is available on all streaming platforms and can be purchased for download on bandcamp.
